The Diocese of Incheon has decided to actively promote the Environmental Recovery Movement from June to September. As part of their participation, the diocese's clergy, including the bishop, have been drinking boiled tap water instead of bottled water since June 1.

The Environmental Ministry plans to distribute 'Environmental Recovery Action Charts' to the faithful in each parish, encouraging them to place the charts in their homes and continuously practice the actions. The faithful are encouraged to mark their progress daily and reflect on their actions during evening prayers.

The action chart is divided into five categories: 'Plastic Waste,' 'Livestock Industry,' 'Food,' 'Water,' and 'Energy.'

Specific actions include,

under the 'Plastic Waste' category:

reducing the use of plastic bags and containers, carrying personal water bottles, and avoiding single-use items.

Under the 'Water' category:

refraining from purchasing bottled water and collecting water in a bucket while waiting for hot water during showers.

Under the 'Livestock Industry' category:

reducing meat and dairy consumption and increasing plant-based meals.

Under the 'Food' category:

minimizing food waste and regularly organizing the refrigerator.

In total, there are 19 action items.

Notably, the chart includes actions addressing recent social issues, such as limiting online deliveries and requesting improvements to excessive packaging, as well as reducing food deliveries.

Additionally, the Environmental Ministry will distribute materials and provide lectures at parishes upon request to further educate the faithful. Previously, during the Lenten season, the diocese distributed an 'Ecological Fasting and Charity Chart' to encourage ecological practices.
