Since almost all humans live on the earth, it is easy for them to become bound to the affairs of this world.
We are inevitably influenced by and drawn to everything that happens on the ground.
As joy, sorrow, anger, and delight repeat, our hearts constantly change.
A lifetime may feel long, but isn't it actually quite short?
A year passes quickly—ten of those make a decade, and ten decades make a century!
This place where we stand is not one where we can remain forever; it is a place we must eventually pass through.
We are all journeying as travelers, and our true home is waiting for us.
If that is so, then there's no need to be attached to this place.
Wouldn’t it be better to spend each day joyfully and with a thankful heart, looking forward to a better, eternal place?
This artwork is a combination of Korean vowels and consonants: ㅁ, ㄴ, ㄱ, ㅡ, ㅣ, and ᆞ.
The blue represents the distant sky, while the soft, white squares resemble clouds. Yet, they also seem to depict an infinitely far and unreachable place, or objects from a crystal-clear, heavenly realm.
The encounter of ㅡ and ㅣ forms a ladder, and at the very top, someone must surely be there.
The knots shaped like • and the knot that hangs down from the sky represent hidden manna, given only to special individuals.
At a time when a life directed toward heaven is desperately needed, this offers rest and hope.
The deep brown lines of ㅡ and ㅣ, drawn in black ink, reflect the artist’s inner soul—having endured deep worries and pains on this earth, and all of life’s complexities, they express a hope to reach a beautiful, eternal place.

# 한글추상 – 내 마음의 하늘

내 마음의 하늘 - 순지 위에 먹, 목탄, 혼합채색 - 73 x 95 cm - 2004
인간은 거의 모두가 땅 위에서 생활하기 때문에 땅 위의 일에 얽매이기 쉽다.
땅에서 일어나는 모든 일에 영향을 받으며 관심이 쏠리기 마련이다.
희비애락이 반복됨에 따라 마음의 변화가 일어난다.
한 평생이 길다고 느낄 수도 있겠지만, 실은 아주 짧은 것이 아닌가?
한해가 빨리 지나가고, 열 번을 지나면 10년이요, 10년이 열 번이면 100년인 것을!
우리가 발을 딛고 있는 이곳은 한없이 머무를 수 있는 곳이 아니고, 곧 지나가야 하는 곳.
우리는 모두 나그네길을 가고 있는데 우리의 본향이 기다리고 있는 것이다.
그렇다면 이곳에 미련을 둘 필요도 없고, 하루 하루를 즐겁게, 감사하는 맘으로 보내면서 더 나은 영원한 곳을 바라 보면 좋지 않을까?
이 작품은 한글의 모음과 자음 중에서 ㅁ, ㄴ, ㄱ, ㅡ, ㅣ, ᆞ의 조합이다.
푸른색은 먼 하늘을 그리며, 뽀오얀 흰 색의 네모들은 구름이 되기도 하지만, 한없이 멀고 아득한 곳, 또는 티없이 맑아 수정같은 하늘나라의 물체를 나타내고자 한 듯하다.
ㅡ와 ㅣ가 만나서 사닥다리를 만들고, 그 맨 꼭대기엔 누군가가 계시리라.
•의 매듭과 하늘로부터 드리워진 매듭은 특별한 사람에게만 주어지는 감추어진 만나이다.
하늘을 향하는 생활이 절실한 때에 안식과 소망을 주는 듯 하다.
짙은 갈색과 ㅡ, ㅣ의 먹선은 땅 위에서의 깊은 고민과 고통, 세상의 온갖 복잡한 일들을 겪고 견딘 후, 영원한 곳, 아름다운 곳으로 갈 수 있다는 소망을 가진 작가의 심령을 잘 느낄 수 있는 작품이다.
